Google I/O 2025 proved to be a landmark event that catapulted artificial intelligence into the spotlight like never before. This year’s conference was brimming with transformative announcements designed to reshape our digital experiences—from intelligent search to groundbreaking creative tools. Let’s take a deeper look into the major highlights unveiled at the event.

Each year Apple kicks off its Worldwide Developer Conference WWDC23 with a few hours of just straight announcements, generally covering things from OS to watchOS to new and updated gadgets. But this years most awaited gadget has been the Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s version of AR/VR headset!

The 2023 edition of WWDC began yesterday on the 5th of June 2023 and as every year, started with high expectations from all the Apple fans around. The entire event was also telecasted live on the Apple Youtube channel.

Now that we have already leaked out the most awaited gadget, lets look at all the highlights and announcements of WWWDC 2023

FaceTime on AppleTV

FaceTime is coming to Apple TV. You can use your camera on the iPad or iPhone and view the people you’re talking to on your big screen. This will use Continuity Camera on an iPhone or iPad to double as a webcam and will also use Center Stage, Apple’s AI-powered tech that adjusts the iPhone’s and iPad’s front-facing camera in video apps, to frame you while you look at the TV.

Apple also said you’ll soon be able to find your lost Apple TV remote using FindMy, so long as you have the newer Siri remote.

MacOS 14 Sonoma

Apple’s latest desktop operating system, macOS 14, is named for another California town, this time, Sonoma.

The desktop is getting interactive widgets and there is a game mode designed to limit distractions amid a growing selection of silicon titles.

It seems the company is getting more serious about teleconferencing, as well (as the webcams have also improved). This includes a new overlay feature that cuts out the speaker, playing them in front of a dynamic background. There are new effects like fireworks, as well. These are compatible with the standard teleconferencing apps, including FaceTime, Zoom, Teams and more.

iOS 17

Apple just announced iOS 17, which includes a bunch of changes coming to the iPhone.

Personalized contact posters, either using photos or Memoji, will allow users to choose their contact card for other users. Live transcription, in real-time, will also be coming for phone voicemails

Facetime will be getting a voicemail functionality

A Check-in feature lets you tell a family member or friend when you’re home. Or, if you’re delayed, it’ll tell your friend that, too

Messaging apps will now have a different layout, expanding to take up the full screen.

Users can now bump two iPhones or Apple Watches together to share contacts, music, internet, or other shared activities with each other, a feature called “NameDrop.”

iPadOS 17

Apple has always been maitaining a separate stream of software for their iPhones as well as iPads. With the announcement of the new iPadOS 17, Apple is brining improved widgets featuring better live interactions, the Home Screen can be customized similarly to the iPhone, and there are new native apps, including the Health app and an improved Notes app.

WatchOS 10

Users can now turn the digital crown to reveal widgets, like the weather and calendar. Apple also introduced new apps like world clock, which features clocks that have background colors that reflect the time of day.

Making the full use of the digital crown, now when you rotate the digital crown, it shows new, full-screen displays.

15 inch Macbook Air

Its the announcement of Macbook graduating to the 15inch real estate! Weighing in at 3.3 pounds, the Air uses last year’s M2 chip (supply chain shortages are suspected to be at play here). That’s an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU. Memory can be configured up to 24GB and storage up to 2TB. There’s a MagSafe charger and only two thunderbolt/USB-C ports (like the 13-inch).

M2 Ultra chipset

As with the progress in tech industry, every new chip is made even more powerful than its previous generation chip. In the same lines, M2 Ultra is the most powerful Apple Silicon chip yet.

It is built using 5 nm technology and featuring 134 billion transistors and will feature 24 CPU cores, up to 76 GPU cores (there’s also a 60-core option) and a 32-core Neural Engine. The CPU consists of 16 next-gen high-performance cores and eight high-efficiency cores.

One major change is that the M2 Ultra supports up to 192 GB of unified memory, backed by 800 GB of memory bandwidth.

Vision Pro AR headset

It features exterior cameras, allowing users to interact with digital content in mixed reality. The product will have 2 hours of use on a battery pack that the headset plugs into.

When users don the headset, they arrive at the Home view, a floating set of icons with Apple’s most used apps, including Mail, Music, Messages, and Safari. The system doesn’t need controllers or hardware. High-speed IR cameras and LED illuminators track a user’s eyes to free them from “clumsy” controllers, Apple said.

Working with Unity, “hundreds of thousands” of iPad and iPhone apps will run on visionOS at launch. Microsoft’s Office Productivity suite will also work on visionOS.

MSBuild 2023 is Microsoft’s annual affair like the Google I/O that just ended, where they announce the latest and the upcoming features in their products and hold in-depth sessions for the developers and the wider community audience.

This year, the Microsoft Build 2023 keynote session witnessed CEO Satya Nadella announcing the AI copilot stack, copilot for Windows 11, Bing search experience for ChatGPT, Microsoft Fabric, and more.

We're announcing more than 50 updates for developers at #MSBuild, from bringing Bing to ChatGPT, to Windows Copilot, to a new Copilot Stack with common extensibility, Azure AI Studio, and Microsoft Fabric, a new data analytics platform. https://t.co/lyBsZdeBi4
— Satya Nadella (@satyanadella) May 23, 2023

And as the guess had to be, the biggest highlight of the event has been the complete focus on AI. As Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer, Windows and Devices says “We are just starting to see the incredible impact AI is having across industries and in our own daily lives. Today, the team and I are excited to share the next steps we are taking on our journey with Windows 11, to meet this new age of AI.”

Windows Copilot

Windows is the first PC platform to provide centralized AI assistance for customers. Together, with Bing Chat and first- and third-party plugins, Windows Copilot allows you to stay focused on bringing your ideas to life, completing complex projects and collaborating instead of spending energy finding, launching and working across multiple applications.

Introducing Windows Copilot: the first PC platform to centralize AI assistance. #MSBuild pic.twitter.com/kujctI9Tm3
— Microsoft (@Microsoft) May 23, 2023

Invoking Windows Copilot is familiar and easy – the button is front and center on your taskbar – simple to find and use. Once open, the Windows Copilot side bar stays consistent across your apps, programs and windows, always available to act as your personal assistant. It makes every user a power user, helping you take action, customize your settings and seamlessly connect across your favorite apps.

Windows Copilot will start to become available in preview for Windows 11 in June.

Bing Chat plugins to Windows

With Bing and ChatGPT plugins in Windows Copilot, people will not only have access to augmented AI capabilities and experiences, but you as developers will also have new ways to reach and innovate for your customers.

One plugin, endless opportunities.

Now you can use one platform across products like Bing Chat, ChatGPT and all of Microsoft's copilots to reach users with the ease of natural language. #MSBuild pic.twitter.com/1X40z9ihgq
— Microsoft (@Microsoft) May 23, 2023

Taking Bing to ChatGPT

Microsoft has been enhancing the Bing experience with the AI power of ChatGPT. Now is the time to bring some of the search engine power of Bing into ChatGPT to co-exist and enhance the features of each other for even better AI experience!

World-class search without ever leaving your chat window.

We are bringing the power of Bing to ChatGPT as the default search experience.

Dev Home

This is an incredible time to be a developer on Windows. The possibilities across industries – healthcare, finance, education, tech, and others – are endless. If you are just getting started with AI or if you are wondering where to start, Microsoft and Windows are here to help you on that journey.

With Dev Home we introduce a new home for developers on #Windows11.

Windows AI Library

With Windows AI library, you can transform your Windows application with the power of artificial intelligence. It will house a curated collection of ready to use machine learning models and APIs that will help jumpstart your AI development.

GitHub Copilot X

Users of GitHub Copilot will be able to take advantage of natural language AI both inline and in an experimental chat experience to recommend commands, explain errors and take actions within the Terminal application.

WinGet Configuration Files

Using a WinGet Configuration file, you can consolidate manual machine setup and project onboarding to a single command that is reliable and repeatable.

With the new WinGet configuration, developers can get ready-to-code in just a few clicks.

Learn more about WinGet configuration here: https://t.co/aF8uPcH4Px#MSBuild pic.twitter.com/brWSGTCg65
— Windows Developer (@windowsdev) May 25, 2023

At the pace of development and integration of AI into every tool that Microsoft introduces, they surely are at the forefront of the AI wave. It will be just time to wait and watch if they can maintain the same pace or get carried away with the competition that Google brings with their Bard AI.

Google Search

Undoubtedly Google’s most successful product, search is at the very core of Google’s mission. Google Search will be getting 2 new features.

Bringing Google’s generative AI Bard to its search platform, Generative AI capabilities in Search will help you when deciding what to buy. It taps into Google’s Shopping Graph, the world’s most comprehensive dataset of constantly-changing products, sellers, brands, reviews and inventory.

With the new generative AI experience in Search, you’ll get even more from a single search. You’ll be able to quickly make sense of information with an AI-powered snapshot, pointers to explore more and natural ways to ask.

What’s new from Android

Large-screen Android devices will be better than ever with more than 50 Google apps have been optimized for large screens, including Gmail, Photos and Meet. And your favorite apps like Spotify, Minecraft and Disney+ look beautiful and feel intuitive on larger screens.

With the foldables becoming the driving force to revive the tablets market, Google has been focusing on improving the Android experience on tablets.

The next screen real estate getting popularity is the smart watch market. Wear OS has grown over five times since the launch of Wear OS 3 in 2021, and it is the fastest-growing smartwatch platform in the world. Developers are investing in the platform as well. Soon, WhatsApp is bringing their first-ever smartwatch app to Wear OS, and more great experiences are coming this year from Gmail, Calendar and more.

Bringing the power of generative AI to Android, soon, you’ll be able to give your compose-itions an extra spark of personality. Magic Compose, a new Messages feature powered by generative AI, will help you transform your text message to your desired vibe before you hit send.

Pixel Tablet

Large screens still have a lot of potential. PixelTablet is built to deliver uniquely helpful experiences—11 inch display, AI powered Google Tensor G2 chip, amazing battery life and a completely reimagined docking stand!

When the Pixel Tablet is in the docked or as Google calls it, in the hub mode, it turns into a digital photo frame and a voice assisted smart home controller.

Pixel Fold

One of the big announcements, unveiling the foldable Pixel phone. It’s also quite thin while folded, at 12.1 millimeters, the hinge is a big part of that. This is 180-degree fluid friction hinge, which means that you can put it to any place you want.

PixelFold is the thinnest foldable on the market. Comes with and expansive 7.6-inch immersive display and a 5.8-inch front display.

The device houses a three-camera system: a 48-megapixel main, 10.8-megapixel ultrawide and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto with 5x optical Zoom and 20x Super Res Zoom. The front-facing camera, meanwhile, is 9.5 megapixels. Is a IPX8 water-resistant design.

The real secret sauce in the Pixel Fold experience is, unsurprisingly, the software. The app continuity when switching between the external and internal screens is quite seamless, allowing you to pick where you left off as you change screen sizes. Naturally, Google has optimized its most popular third-party apps for the big screen experience, including Gmail and YouTube.

The system is powered by the same Tensor G2 chip you’ll find in the Pixel 7, 7a and Pixel tablet.

Find my device, even when offline

Currently, Find My Device helps you locate misplaced devices that have location capabilities and are connected to the internet. However, Google will be launching a refreshed Find My Device experience that makes it easier than ever to locate your devices and belongings quickly and securely by ringing compatible devices or viewing their location on a map in the app – even when they’re offline.

Keeping track of devices can be hard.
The new Find My Device network will harness over a billion Android devices across the world to help you locate your missing belongings like headphones, tracker tags, or even your phone via Bluetooth proximity.

RCS adoption

When you are texting in a group chat, you shouldn’t have to worry about what kind of phone everyone is using – sharing high-quality images and video, seeing typing notifications and staying protected with end-to-end encryption should just work. Out with the old (SMS & MMS) and in with the new. RCS is a modern standard that provides end-to-end encryption and supports high quality videos and photos in texts. There are now over 800 million people with RCS, on the way to 1 billion by the end of the year.

Bard – Conversational AI from Google

Bard lets you collaborate with generative AI. Google is not only removing its waitlist for Bard and making it available, in English, in over 180 countries and territories, but it’s also launching support for Japanese and Korean with a goal of supporting 40 languages in the near future.

As a creative and helpful collaborator, Bard can supercharge your imagination, boost your productivity, and help you bring your ideas to life—whether you want help planning the perfect birthday party and drafting the invitation, creating a pro & con list for a big decision, or understanding really complex topics simply.

Bard will soon become more visual in a couple of helpful ways. Bard will incorporate relevant images in its responses. It’ll also become easy for you to prompt Bard with images, giving you even more ways to explore and create.

Google Maps

Google Maps unveiled a new “Immersive View for Routes” feature in select cities. The new feature brings all of the information that a user may need into one place, including details about traffic simulations, bike lanes, complex intersections, parking and more. You can even see air quality, weather and traffic.

PaLM 2 will power Google’s updated Bard chat tool, the company’s competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and function as the foundation model for most of the new AI features the company is announcing today.

Sec-PaLM, introduced last month, is trained on security intelligence and powers new Google Cloud offerings that help organizations and security analysts detect, understand and defend against threats.

Med-PaLM 2 can help answer questions and summarize insights from a variety of dense medical texts.

Workspace

From the very beginning, Google Workspace was built for collaborating in real time with other people — and now you can also collaborate in real time with AI!

These new Workspace features can help you turn ideas into action. Simply describe what you’re trying to accomplish, and Google Sheets will generate a plan that helps you get organized.
